I work in Olympia and the wife just got a job in Seattle.

We currently live in Lacey, but of course the commute would be too far to Seattle.

Does anyone have suggestions that would make a reasonable commute for both of us?

We have done a bit of research and Browns point looks like a nice place to live. Does anyone have opinions on Browns point? Is it safe and a nice place to live?

Other cities we should look at? Is the drive from Browns point to Olympia and Browns point to Seattle decent?

Google maps says the commute to Olympia is ~40 mins & about 45 mins to Green Lake in Seattle. Does that seem about right?

Traffic can be wicked on I-5, but the time you gave seems reasonable most of the time. And Browns Point happens to be a nice place. It might make Tacoma your center of gravity for things like entertainment and dining, but Tacoma has lots of cool parts. Yes, it also has some scuzzy parts, but Rome, Paris, London, and New York also have some bad neighborhoods. Not saying Tacoma is exactly Paris, but be wary of people who diss a whole city because of it's bad neighborhoods.

I am pretty familiar with the Tacoma Dome traffic, I'll be going south around 5:15 am so I am not too worried about the drive to Olympia, coming back anywhere between 2 and 5 pm which does worry me.

She is not sure about her hours yet. Tacoma to Seattle... How is going North in the morning and south at night, traffic wise? I did notice there were two ways to go, I-5 all the way to Seattle or it looks like 99 & 509 will take you there, I've never driven this way though.... I imagine there are quite a bit of lights and the speed limit is slow?
