I currently live in Portland, OR. I love it here--It's got the feel of a small town while having all of the fun and amenities of a large city.
I live in SE Portland, and love the calm residential areas with parks scattered about and having friendly neighbors in every direction.

Unfortunately, to work in the field of my choice, I'm looking at probably having to move to Seattle in a year or two. I'm going on a trip up there this weekend for PAX and have never been in my life. Can anyone recommend any neighborhoods that would have a similar feel to SE Portland?

Anywhere around Green Lake or maybe Ballard. I think North Seattle has a lot of what you say you are looking for. Wallingford or Phinney/Greenwood area are nice, as well as Fremont or Ravenna. It's in the big city, but doesn't feel like the big city.

Capital Hill is like the NE or Pearl, with lots of hipsters and the "in" crowd.

I didn't find it that different from what I know of Portland so far.

Another area to check out is West Seattle, particularly in the Admiral neighborhood.
