Take a bus to The Landing area in Renton and go to Frys Electronics. Worth the trip. And then you can hit Five Guys Burgers and Fries too!

I second that...but you may also want to look at Newegg online. They may have better prices than Frys. Or, go to Frys, find something you like, write down the model number, and look for it online. It might be a lot cheaper. If you need any help finding the best price, don't hesitate to PM me. :P

Downtown Seattle is sadly lacking in electronics stores like Best Buy.

Fry's is a great place to shop and look at all the latest gadgets (although I don't know how you would deal with a big computer box on a bus). Check out their big colorful ads in the Seattle Times.

Our last two household computer purchases were actually made online, from Amazon and Dell.

Interesting for some reason...I thought computer stores would be plentiful around Seattle....I will probably go online or to my local apple store then.

They're as plentiful as anywhere else, really. I would suggest that you not go to Best Buy. While Best Buy does have helpful employees that will match you with a good product, their prices reflect that. It's often a lot more expensive than the other stores.

The original post said "dtown Seattle," where large electronics stores are basically absent, not plentiful. There are plenty of stores in places like Bellevue, Tukwila, Renton, Northgate and other places, of course.

Newegg first, then Frys.

Avoid Best Buy like the plague.

Buy online, avoid sales tax and look for free shipping.

I'll be moving to Seattle in a few weeks, and I have to say that this is one the big things I'm looking forward to. I currently live in the Philippines, and while its just a hop away from Hong Kong, the computer stores here are nothing compared to a Fry's and no option to order from the plentiful online options that is to be had in the States.
