Adding to this, the bus system is exactly why I was excited about living in Seattle again; it's been the most efficient bus system I've witnessed yet. Timely, reaches many areas and CHEAP. Granted it was a lot cheaper when I was about 20 or so and passed for a teenager, but even paying $2 is no big deal, especially with transfers. Someone said 2HRs for the transfers, but I often get transfers that are very long and sneak on with expired tranfers anyway.
It's a great way to get around and extremely cheaper than having a car, fractions cheaper. You can just take it while you're saving up to get a car, which is what I'm doing.

Out of all the bus systems in Western Washington, Metro is the only one still issuing paper transfers. The rest don't issue one if you pay cash. However you do get the 2 hr xfer if you use the Orca card.
