I've just recently moved to Bellevue from out of state and still learning my way around.

Some friends (also from out of state) will be in Tacoma for a few days next week. We are looking for a restaurant where we can get together for dinner part way between Bellevue and Tacoma. (It doesn't have to be half way - it can be two thirds of the way in either direction).

There will be four of us. We'll be going by car. We are looking for somewhere casual with some character, preferably not a chain, with good food and somewhat conversation-friendly. Not worried about budget, but my friends are packing only jeans, so can't be dressy/fancy.

Bonus if it's located in an interesting neighborhood/downtown area and/or waterfront.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

... If you want something off beat... why not take the ferry to Vashon Island? You can get on ferry via Seattle, your friend via Tacoma... go to Vashon Island... eat at the restaurants there?

Options: Monkey Tree, Hardware Store restaurant, La Boucherie... there's actually more restaurants in the area and is cool to check out.

Inkpoe - This looks wonderful - will have to see if they are up for negotiating a ferry. Thanks!
