I have never seen so many spiders outside. They are everywhere. My place has decorative tall bushes spaced several feet apart; EVERY gap has at least six-ten spider webs in between each bush. A few have gotten in the house, but they are mainly outside...each doorway has a tenant or two that I have to clear out each day.

Anyone else notice a spider outbreak?

omgosh, totally!!!

i live in north seattle and i've been wondering the same thing - just where in the world are all these spiders coming from. don't get me wrong, they're pretty to look at, in their own way - and i wouldn't intentionally harm a one - but it's really icky when i accidentally walk through a newly built web and have to scrape web carcass for myself and pray and hope that my next swoop of web removal doesn't also include the originating spider - yikes!!!

It's also a problem here in Milwaukee in the summer time. This summer that just ended I had the bad luck of walking in to a freshly built web. Several minutes later as I was on a bus going home, I noticed something moving on my right shoulder when I looked it was the spider from the web that I walked into. This thing was about two inches in diameter and moving very quickly towards my neck. I had to get up from my seat and brush the spider off my shoulder. Another passanger then killed it as it fell on the floor.

I am not afraid of spiders, but what does concern me is their bite. Some can be very venomous.

I personally love the spiders ... keeps the 'other bug' population down.
