Hi everybody! We are looking for a modest, but nice home in a good area. I will be commuting to Tukwila, and I was thinking the Renton Highlands looked like a decent place. I have heard that being in the Issaquah school district is the place to be. Does anyone have any suggestions where we should look. Family of 3, hoping to grow.

-Thanks

Renton Highlands is a decent place, and the eastern portion of the Renton Highlands is in the Issaquah school district, which is uniformly good. But there are parts of Renton which are in the Renton school district which have good schools also. Because Renton has some schools which are really bad, many people dismiss the entire district as being bad, but in fact there are a few schools which are really good, such as Hazelwood Elementary, McKnight Middle school, and Hazen High School. If you can find a home where your children would go to those schools, you'd do just fine. Kennydale is another nice area of Renton with a very good elementary school.
You also might want to look at some schools in the Kent school district. That's another district which is a mixed bag....some really bad schools, and some very good ones, some of SE Renton kids go to the better Kent schools.
