What are they? Where are they? Where are the bar sports bars that the locals go to?

It's been my experience that sports bars are very local, and generally people go to their favorite bar to see the local game. Or stay home with their HDTVs! I suspect many sports bars are suffering from this practice. Soccer bars are an entirely different subject, though.

If you have a particular out of town rooting interest, fans of that team may congregate at one bar...most team forums could tell you where that was in Seattle, if it exists.

Oh, well. I was guessing I would get the name of a sports bar by the time the Ducks start playing tonight in the BCS final. I guess not. Thanks, anyway.

I know its probably too late now, but you could check out the Sport Restaurant & Bar, right across from the Space Needle (Broad St. and 4th).

Also, Fox Sports Grill has terrible food, but the atmosphere is cool.

I saw the game at Jillian's near South Lake Union. Great huge 2-floor bar with water views. Food was okay.

Soccer bars are a totally different story ...

There's two I go to. One is the George and Dragon. Great Welsh (remember, NOT British and NOT Irish, LOL) pub.

The other is Eastlake Bar & Grill.

For baseball and football and soccer, try the Pyramid brewhouse across from the stadium. If you request a TV play something they're usually amenable to it. I think you could also reserve a corner of the place and get your own TVs if you have a group.

Default Sports Bars

Buckley's in Lower Queen Anne
Sport for high-tech and transient fans
Bleachers in Greenwood for a neighborhood vibe
Sluggers or FX McRory's near the stadiums
Roanoke is not technically a sports bar but is one of my all-time favorite places to watch a game and have a brew
Ballard Loft in, uh, Ballard
Ram in U-Village for college students, yuppies, and husbands waiting for their wives to finish wasting money at the Apple store
Village Pub in Magnolia for an absurd number of TV's and a strange family vibe
Spitfire in Belltown for a cavernous atmosphere and good food

Plenty of local dives now have good TV's (i.e. Leny's in Tangletown), so it really depends on the vibe you're looking for.
