Both property crime and violent crime are above the national average for both these cities.

Both school districts have average reputations but with below average test scores.

Both places are working-class cities and have mid to lower than average family incomes and are considered suburbs to Seattle. They are incorporated towns.

Renton's reputation is starting to improve with Paul Allen's money being pumped into development along the lake.
