I have long time back problems including scoliosis. We've lived in Washington five years, near Port Ludlow on the Olympic Peninsula. I've been to a few ortho docs in the Silverdale area (various specialties) but have never seen anyone in Seattle.

I saw an ad in the Times for a back pain seminar at Swedish. Apparently they do a series of seminars. Can anyone tell me if these are good? Will I learn anything or is it just a come-on to get you to make an appointment with one of their specialists?

The seminars are informative and the surgeons will answer your questions about treatment choices and risks. Swedish certainly wants you to choose them for your care, but it isn't like a timeshare sales pitch where they won't let you leave without sitting down with an salesman. Think of it as a good opportunity to hear about your options and to have some of your questions answered.
