I'm talking about the stretch that begins at Greenlake (with Beth's, Duck Island) and ends at 80th or 85th. It's actually a highly useful stretch (computer repair, auto repair, glass repair, food, drink, groceries, games) and not nearly as skeevy as everything North of 85th.

Interesting that everyone picks Greenlake over Lake Union. I did that run on a Seattle visit from downtown and fell in love. Either way, you've definitely peaked my interest about Greenlake, so I'll check it out. It also seems like you could do a long run from Greenlake to Lake Union and around if you needed to.

They are two completely different lakes ... Green Lake has a dedicated running path (full of runners, bikes, skaters, strollers, dogs , ...). Running around Lake Union (if anyone does this) involves major arterials, bridges and car traffic. I still prefer running along Lake Washington between Madison Park and Seward Park ... prettiest scenery anywhere.

There's a MUP on the southern section of Lake Union that does get a fair amount of runners although nothing like the volume at Green Lake. When I've used it however, its short enough that I end up running in the streets once it ends in East Lake.

Adding on to my post with another question. In Minneapolis, we're one of the only mid-thirties couple we know without children. Which makes sense, because it's the Midwest. Will we stand out that much in Seattle?
