Good morning,

I am going to move to Issaquah in June; 2 kids: 11 and 15. I will be commuting to Auburn to my job. We are planning to rent a house for about a year, and then we will buy.

I have a few questions for forum members:

1. What are the best schools(middle and high) in the area?

2. What is the best area to live? If we cannot find a house for rent in this area, are there good townhouses or appartment complexes?

3. Are there sport summer camps(soccer and football)?

Our biggest problem now is to find a place to stay since we don't know the area and have no friends or relatives to ask for advice. We a looking for a safe, clean, decent neighborhood.

I will appreciate any suggestions.

I think all of the schools in Issaquah are considered outstanding.

I lived in the Issaquah Highlands and loved it.

We could not find a home to rent, but we rented from the complex there. It's called The Highlands at Wynhaven. We rented a 3 bed/2 bath town home from them, and it was not like living in an apartment complex at all. It was really great.

V. =)

I have made that exact same move from PA to Sammamish now Issaquah.
Skyline and Issaquah high schools are both good. GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community
Klahanie is a easy walkable neighborhood with lots of parks and housing rentals. Kids are everywhere - there is also a community pool and tennis court. It will be easy to make friends over the summer. And you can go the back way to Auburn. Klahanie is split between the two high schools (Skyline/IHS).
Summer camps are signing up now listing on types of camps
Issaquah Youth Football Issaquah Youth Football
Soccer - Skyhawks - skyhawks.com there is also Issaquah Rec Soccer and indoor leagues.

More specific info PM me.

We moved to Sammamish 6 months ago with High, Middle & Elementary school kids.

As Veronika said all the schools are top rated in the Issaquah SD. My kids go to Skyline, Pine Lake Middle and Discovery Elementary.

Finding a house to rent is tricky. They are usually advertised and taken within 2 weeks - unless they are in poor condition. Expect to pay around $1 per sq foot for up to 2500 sq ft SFHs.
But be warned, the SD are pretty strict on enforcing the school boundaries, so if you move house you will have to change the kids school too. This may be less of an issue with the HS as there are only 2. But for Middle and Elementary it's a real problem for us.

We mostly used Craigslist, Hotpads and Trulia to find places. But Craigslist is where all the latest ones are first posted.

Hope this helps and good luck with the move!

Sounders FC has a fun soccer camp as well! As previously stated, Issaquah Schools are generally terrific and rental homes can be hard to find.

Issaquah Soccer Club info can be found here

ISC Home

Skyline HS has one of the best football programs in the state and has been ranked in the Top 10 nationally in recent years. They have ties to a youth football program that is pretty rigorous.
