Just browsing through a few websites over the past week and I couldn't find any townhomes in my price-range that had a 2 car garage. From what other members post, I understand that Seattle is definitely walkable and a car isn't necessary when living in certain areas, but I was just wondering if there are any areas where a bigger garage is common?

Us: Young married couple, late 20s, both working, no kids, would like to get a small dog in a few years, and our budget is 500k. We'd like to get a small place (2bed, 1.5 bath is fine), but we would like a 2 car garage.

Areas of interest thus far: Capitol Hill, South Lake Union, Phinney Ridge, Fremont.

Am I not searching good enough, or are my preferred locales in Seattle dominated with 1-car garages? I'm afraid 2 car garages are only with more expensive 4+ bedroom homes?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Not impossible, but not common. Doing a search a few minutes ago, I came up with a couple in Fremont, one in Wallingford, one in Ballard and one in Ravenna that were under 500,000 and had two car garages. Not sure what site you're searching through, but the Redfin site is pretty easy to navigate.

The problem is that land is so expensive that builders would rather use the space for home, not garage. For that price you could get an older house but those had 1 car garages that are so short a Mazda barely fits in it. Most of the two car garages are in what were the ritzy areas of Seattle such as Magnolia, Wedgewood and Madison Park.

Thank you all for posting some listings and giving general info about the situation. I haven't been looking as good as I thought I was! I'll certainly bookmark these and continue to do my research. Are garages in the Seattle area typically smaller to accomodate compact vehicles? Not planning on owning a suburban when I move- but something larger than a Ford Fiesta. It would be a bummer if the 2 car-garages where really meant for a mini cooper and motorcycle.

Thanks again.
