I want to go for a walking tour of downtown Seattle taking photos along the way this weekend. I figured it would be a fun date idea. I'm trying to plan out a good walking route. I know I would like to walk along the water front and make my way up toward the Seattle Public library (very interesting building).

Do you have any suggestions for my walking route? Maybe some fun places to hit along the way or other paths I can follow? Thanks!

PS I'm not a serious photographer. I just bought the first camera I've ever owned last week and thought it would be fun to take it for a test drive and get some pictures of my girlfriend and I.

Here's something that might help:
Self Guided Walking Tours. Walking Tours of Seattle's Historic Distirics.
Walking Tours (Self-Guided) - Visiting Seattle - Seattle.gov
National Geographic, Seattle Walking Tour: Downtown
Seattle Walking Tour: Downtown -- National Geographic's Ultimate City Guides

Word to the wise; the steepest part of downtown is from the waterfront up to that library (Madison st).

Thanks for the reply! Both sites are quite useful.

Your word to the wise made me laugh, then cringe. Then I started laughing again . . . Maybe we'll start at the library instead of ending there.

yep, tour the waterfront: start North at the sculpture park go South and look at the touristy piers you'll find yourselves near Pioneer Square after the ferry dock, cross under that awful viaduct look at the old buildings (Check link for Pioneer tour and highlights) then go look at the redo of the King Street Station @ Jackson & 4th Ave S. Then poke your head into Union Station right across the street. ChinaTown/Int'l District is right there (check the link for highlights/tour) then go look inside Smith Tower's lobby (or ride up manned elevator if you have time) at 2nd & Yesler. After that it should be an easier walk to the library along 4th Ave.
A walk through the market, back towards the starting point should be a snap.
