Have to go Univ of Washington Medical Center (60%), Harborview Medical Center/Swedish (the rest).........-- crazy hours.......80/wk.

Looking for nicest place -- around $1400-1600/month (seriously large portion of my salary but I'll be too busy to spend anymore) -- that's safe and perhaps has a gym, is modern, and well liked by residents.

ANY LEADS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. Thanks so much.

Avoid Cascade Terrace on Queen Anne at all costs. Not sure what else you might consider. You could look into graduate student housing near Magnuson Park. Other than that, I don't know. There is an IMA at UW (fitness center, and it cost about $200/year) but the hours aren't ideal for your job. I think 6am-9 or 10pm. There is a 24-hour fitness downtown near Capitol Hill.

I would suggest don't live in the UDistrict, unless you want to deal with a bunch of 18-year-old frat kids. Check out some of the new places in SLU (south lake union), a bit between UW and Harborview. Not sure if they are OK places, though. Try apartmentratings.com

Can't tell if you are male or female, but if you are female, I would suggest not living on capitol hill. Can be a bit unsafe especially at your odd work hours.

Luckily UW and Harborview have good bus routes from most of the city.

Live near the UW campus and medical center rather than the other 2 hospitals. You can then bus to Swedish or Harborview as needed. Don't live near Harborview, for the neighborhood has a lot of crime. Good neighborhood choices for you include University district, Eastlake, Wallingford, Laurelhurst/Sandpoint, Ravenna & Montlake.

Just wanted to add that though Capitol Hill & East Lake are more centrally located, affording quicker access to HMC & Swedish, it would be more charming to live near the Burke Gilman in Wallingford. Those apartments and condos also have a view of the water, and you could get to UWMC by bike. Worth looking into, since you want your home to be a refuge.

I would look into Montlake, Capital Hill or First Hill. We live on Capital Hill and work out at the '24 Hour Fitness Center' on Stewert. A great gym that's open all night for odd-balls like you.
