Hi! I'm relocating to Seattle in June (from the East Coast) and will be working in Fremont. I hear Fremont is a fun, artsy place to live with much to offer, but is it ideal for a late 20-something female? I'm looking for an area with cafes, relaxed nightlife, wine bars, dog parks, shopping, great eats, easy transit, etc.

I've also been told Ballard is a hotspot but want to be able to get to Fremont quickly/easily. With my budget, I'm prepared to pay up to $2500 for 2BR. Is Fremont the right place to live -- if not, any ideas? I want to experience the best of Seattle as a city and not be in the burbs. Thanks for any thoughts!

Fremont doesn't have a dog park, but it has all the other things you're looking for. The nearest dog parks are Woodland Park ( near Phinney Ridge/North Wallingford/Greenlake) and in Golden Gardens Park ( Ballard)...All good neighborhoods to consider in addition to Fremont.

Depends on if you want to live in a vibrant area or in a very quiet area. Singles love living in Wallingford, Ballard, Green Lake, Fremont, Queen Anne,Phinney Ridge, Capital Hill...

All are very hip and very close to Fremont. (Capital Hill is the furthest, maybe 10 minutes)

If you want quiet, check out North Beach or Magnolia. Maybe a ten minute drive but both are very quiet.

I don't want to be an old lady in a shoe so a vibrant, young area is preferred - just not frat-style young I've heard Ballard more than once so maybe I will look at apts there in addition to Fremont. Such a big decision!

Thanks for the tip on Woodland Park - can you walk there from Fremont?

"Thanks for the tip on Woodland Park - can you walk there from Fremont?"

If you've got a lot of time and a lot of patience with traffic - yes ... about 3 miles I'd guess.

What? No. Woodland Park is walkable from Fremont. The main intersection in Fremont is 35th and Fremont. Woodland Park is at the intersection of 50th and Fremont. And those are short city blocks. Figure a mile.

Not sure where in the park the dog area is located. But it's walkable. Now mind you it's uphill most of the way, then down on the return.

According to the Parks Department website, the dog park at Lower Woodland Park is located just west of the tennis courts. It is a two-acre off-leash area with a doggie drinking fountain.

It is about three blocks east and downhill of the intersection of N 50th and Freemont.
