My area was built up in the 70's and early 80's so I don't know about that. Trossachs is the newer area in Sammamish and they do have sightings there but they abutt to Soaring Eagle Park where I imagine a lot of wildlife lives.

Yes, there is merit to that...as more housing developments, and more roads are built we will see more bear sightings.

So if we want to avoiding seeing bears as much, maybe we should tear down some of these housing developments.
I know, I know, people have to live somewhere. But part of me likes the idea of tearing down housing developments and replacing them with wildlife habitats and farms. Yeah, that's gonna happen.

To it's credit, the City of Sammamish has a lot of parks set aside. That's one of the things we love about living here. A lot of open space still!

Being a disciple of the late, great Emmet Watson, I wouldn't mind if some of those developments were replaced with wildlife habitats and farms!

Most of the wildlife problems are caused by the massive development of the 90s and early 2000s approved by King County before incorporation.
The animals had nowhere to go and so stayed in the small bits of woods they could find. We spend a lot of time in Soaring Eagle Park and at dusk you will see and here all kinds of wildlife, and during the day sign and tracks in the mud left in creekbeds. It's not all from new development, though. I see a lot of rabbits, deer, and even some coyotes at BCC in Bellevue which is between the freeway and busy highways.
