Today, by the way, no one can complain. Bright sun with very puffy clouds, and a very comfortable temperature, probably 68. The view from my office, below. That's not a UFO, just the reflection from the radar vessel in drydock.
Wow! Beautiful. I am so nervous to move but I am ready for the change. I hope I enjoy it there!

Wow! I've never paid that much a month for an apartment. Looks like I
l'll have to get another job! Thank you for the heads up. Do you know of any nice places/apartments I should look into?

That's just not accurate information. Yes, there are studio apartments for rent for 2000 per month, but that's top of the line luxury. Nice studios can be had for 800-900. It seems that Vinylly isn't here to present accurate information, more like he's from the anti Chamber of Commerce and just wants to scare people away. One place you might want to look is at The Landing in Renton. There are a couple of apt.complexes there, the Sanctuary ,and The Reserve. They're only a couple of years old, and built adjacent to and above a newer and pleasant shopping area near Lake Washington. 10-15 minute drive to Tukwila.

Thank you so Much! I'll definitely look into it

Seattle is hugely different from Houston in so many ways - you may or may not like the differences. The cost of living is definitely higher, you'll pay somewhat more for rent, gas, car and parking expenses, eating out, and I'm fairly sure a night out on the town is more expensive, though of course if you're pretty that should not be a concern to you.

The people on average may be a little cooler at first (like the weather), it may take longer for them to warm up to you than is typical for the South.

I'd say that if you see the differences as challenges that are exciting rather than a burden, you will do well. You're still young so you have lots of energy for adapting to a new situation. Hey, if you don't like it, you could always move back in a year or two ...... or maybe try something completely different than either place.

Before moving to Seattle my price range for 1 BR place was 850-1100. I searched places in Fremont, Ballard, and Wallingford for a few weeks and visited a few of them on my visit here. They were nice but I wasn't completely satisfied.

I drove through Magnolia one day to check out a place and called a few numbers I saw on the side of the buildings. The last night I was there I ended up looking at an awesome 1 BR place for $730! Sweet view, covered parking, but I have to use building pay laundry room. I've been living here for about a month and love it.

Cliff Notes: Drive around in the areas you want to live in and call some of the numbers you see. You may luck out like I did.

You do need a car if you're going to live in Magnolia, but it's beautiful and it has Discovery Park which I'll bet you've hardly even begun to check out, Calibound. It's a huge park with lots of trees and amazing ocean views. If you pitch a tent at night (illegal, it's only day-use) you can get to meet some of the foxes and giant raccoons ...... I remember making a little campfire and cooking a pot of meat stew, and having a fox come right up and lie down about 10 ft away like a dog.

Hi Woof, I strolled down to Discovery Park my first or second week here. I was completely blown away with how beautiful it was. I live about a mile and a half away. I feel very fortunate for the way things have worked out.

I agree with everything that ******* says. I'll add, that you may be able to find a descent studio in Federal Way or Des Moines for $600-$700 a month. Prices tend to be cheaper South of Seattle. Most of the night life and exitement is Downtown Seattle unless you like to attend concerts and live bands. Look for the Emerald Queen Casino in Fife off exit #137. Whatever you do and however you get there, DON'T FORGET YOUR UMBRELLA

Good Luck to you, I'm headed to Texas next May.
