Hmmm... I may consider keeping my DirecTV equipment until after the move! I had it for a while earlier this year, but then TimeWarner fixed the issues (after many months). Haven't bought-out the contract yet.

Yes, I've read great things about the Highlands network. We're "slightly" interested in that area... but it may be a bit cramped for us. We'll be checking it out when were there starting Wednesday.
Keep in mind that our area has a lot of hills and trees, even woods still, and some homes (like mine) cannot get a clear shot at the satellites. Others have to pay extra for 2-3 dishes. Not a problem in the Highlands as it's been clearcut for the development, but the rest of the plateau
can have deadspots.

Thanks... I thought about this yesterday. I had to remind myself about all the dishes that (compared to here) look like they're pointing at the ground rather than the sky.

I think most cable/satellite/whatever co.'s have poor customer service. When I lived out of state, I had comcast a long time, eventually couldn't take it anymore and switched to separate cable and internet providers. Then I moved here, and avoided comcast. But then, after getting more poor service from the others, a couple years later I am back with comcast. Their customer service is still poor but at least the internet is fast and doesn't drop.

None of the services in Seattle are that great, but what are you going to do? AT&T is not allowed into the land line market, Verizon doesn't directly offer home service here and the two remaining companies appear to me to not feel the need to up their game by much for the sake of competition. It's ridiculous. I have tried different services here, I am dissatisfied with them and there is not a thing I can do about it.

Here on the eastside Verizon did offer home services but were bought out by Frontier, and their prices were higher than Comcast. I agree about the customer service, the same for all of them, including cell phone providers.
The employees are underpaid (you get what you pay for) and there are not enough of them.
