Seattle is one of the few cities I've narrowed my list down to.

Someone I know told me that city is 'Vegan City'. I think that's GREAT, but I will never be mistaken for a vegan, and I'm wondering will I be discriminated against or have my options limited by the fact that I'm not.

Yes, I know it sounds weird, but I've visited quite a few cities in my attempt to narrow it down, and what I was told cities were known for, they DEFINITELY were in my limited experience.

Sooo .... what's the word, Seattle?

Seattle is accepting of vegans and there are some restaurants that specialize or at least have some suitable items on their menu. It is not however, by any means a vegan city. You can get all the meat, fish and poultry you want all over the area, and the vegans are still far and away in the minority. Where I work (600 people though I don't know everyone) I only am aware of one vegan co-worker.

I'm not a Vegan.

Thanks a lot for the response, bisjoe.

I thought that sounded a little ridiculous, but you never know.

I wouldn't want to buy a bacon cheeseburger, and walk out with my head hung low.

While Seattle has some pretty good options for vegans, they've also got places like Salumi ,and The Swinery, and Lunchbox Laboratory, places that are very popular because of their meat.

If you do come, look for Red Mill Burgers, Dicks, the Counter, hamburger Harry's, even 5 Guys. For steak El Gaucho, the Metropolitan Grill, Anthony's happy Hour Kobe Sliders.

Then try Hole in the wall BBQ, Ballard Best BBQ, Dixies in Bellevue.

You will fit right in and need many napkins.

Don't worry, Veganism will always be on the fringe.......no matter where you go.

Seattle is not known for it's veganism per se...but rather it's rainy days, beautiful and lush green scenery, water everywhere, coffee, Farmer's Markets, microbrew, chocolate and easy access to Eastern WA wineries. If you are a foodie, vegan or not, it's a great place to live!!

Seattle is also known for its extreme, insane liberalism and armpit hippies.
