Used car registration? (Seattle: buying, cost, registering)

I'm not sure if this is true, but I heard that WA calculates car registration based on the vehicles current value.

When registering my 2002 Honda in WA (all paid off), will I be paying thousands or hundreds changing my tags?

I don't mind if it is like ~$200, but anything over $1,000 and I'd rather sell it down here in CA.

I have 3 vehicles from 1997 to 2007 and all three together cost me less than $400/year in registration fees. Seattle is higher with added city fees and they are about to try adding another $80 but still well below $1,000.

Ah, interesting, I don't currently have a car but am sort of thinking about buying one...are these fees paid annually or only once, when you first register the car in your name?

Tabs generally run under $50/year.
