I have to move out of state, perhaps temporarily (a couple of years perhaps) and have a 3 bedroom house in Redmond WA.

Given that this is a temporary move (could be permanent..dont know) I don't want to get rid of the furniture ( rather old and shipped in from Spain).

Is it possible to rent a house out furnished ? Would I have to buy insurance for the furniture ? Is it even available ?
I worry about property management companies - have heard of some horror stories in another part of the country.

How would I go about finding someone to rent it out to ? Its rather close to MS and an elementary school and a nice park. But not walking distance to grocery stores....

Need ideas, thoughts, any advice ?

Post on Craigslist under short term rentals. Lots of people are starting at Microsoft and want to rent a furnished place for a few months and get familiar with the area before signing a longer lease. Interns also love furnished temps but they are mostly here in the summer. Collect a deposit to cover damages. Store fragile pieces in public storage or a friend's garage.
Can't say much about property management companies, never used them, but they are pretty popular around here since so many people moved and need to rent out their place.

CL will result in a lot of scammers and flakes. I'd suggest a well-known and respected property management company, such as Windermere or McPherson.

I second Craigslist. As somebody looking for a place to live, I have used it repeatedly over the years with great success. Of course, you may find spammers and you will need to do your own homework to weed out flakes (meeting in person, running a background check, etc.), but for the most part I had no real issues with it. You could perhaps combine using Craigslist with utilizing a property management company.

I would vote for Real Property Associates in Bellevue if your looking for Property Management companies.
