Hello everyone - My husband and I are moving into the area next week and have been ripping our hair out trying to find a good place to live. He will be working in Sumner and I will be working in Seattle, so we have been searching in the Kent/Auburn/Federal Way area. Everything seems to have bad reviews, but there must be SOME nice communities out there? Some of the places we are going to look at are:

Waterbrook
Stratford Arms
Arcadia Townhomes

I have heard that we should stay away from Federal Way because it has a huge crime problem. Does anyone have any suggestion for some good towns and communities to check out? I really appreciate the help!!

Federal Way doesn't have a "huge" crime problem. Anywhere you have a huge mall and shopping areas, it skewer the statistics and doesn't exactly reflect the city well.

If you are commuting on the Sounder rail, you'd want to consider staying on the rail corridor. Otherwise, what area are you looking for - urban, surburban, quiet, active, etc... How long for a commute? What's important to you?

@secret_squirrel - we have two dogs, so something suburban and quiet that isn't near a major road would be good. Other than that we are just looking for a good community with nice people and nice apartments in the $1000 range.
