Hi, I am new here and also to Seattle, Washington! I am looking at applying for employment for a job that is near Garfield and 15th Avenue West in Seattle. I am wondering if this is a nice area and if anyone can provide some information regarding the area such as traffic, weather, etc.

I appreciate anybody who could assist me with information regarding the area!

Thanks!

Bob

15th West and Garfield is largely not a residential area, but it's really close to Puget Sound/Elliot Bay, so the scenery is very nice very nearby. There are some nice neighborhoods pretty close, like Queen Anne, Magnolia, and Ballard. If it were me, I'd probably focus on living on one of those neighborhoods, especially since traffic just plain sucks.
The weather is mostly cool, cloudy, moderate with many periods of light rain, a little bit of heavy rain, a tiny bit of snow, except in the summer, when it's usually very dry and sunny but not very hot.

Hello, thanks so much for the information. No one else has replied so I am glad at least I have some information regarding that area of Seattle. How is the neighborhood of Interbay? I see it's close to Queen Anne.

Interbay is an Industrial Area. Stick with Queen Anne or Ballard.

You forgot Magnolia. It's a great community and probably preferable to Queen Anne or Ballard. Interbay is between Queen Anne and Magnolia.

Not only is it industrial, but there are a lot of trains in that area. (I work there at times though based closer to Belltown). Interbay is a pretty noisy area to live, with not much residential, mostly shipping with the port terminals
nearby. There is one nice shopping center with Whole Foods and Peets Coffee, and an easy commute from lower Queen Anne, Ballard, Magnolia,
and less expensive Belltown. If you are more of an adventurous city type
Belltown could be more your style, the others are more suburban and safer.

I'd like to thank everyone who replied to me. All of the information is all helpful. I will consider applying for work at the Staples on 15th St West and Garfield will be taking the bus to and from work noticing there's a Metro Transit bus pickup/drop off site nearby and just wondering if this particular part of town is safe for working and walking to and from the bus stop during the day or night. I've never really lived in the "big city" so just concerned.

Hello, so if I understand you correctly, Interbay (where 15th Avenue West and Garfield are located) is more safe and suburban than the others? Not that I would be living in the area as you mentioned its a pretty noisy area to live and industrial but at least to work would it be a "good area" ?

I wouldn't worry too much about it being a "good area" since its simply industrial, trafficky and noisy. I mean, you can walk if you want. No one is going to bother you. And no, 15th and Garfield is not at all suburban. Its all concrete (roads, bridge) with businesses nearby. At least you have Palisades nearby, if you're down for some of Seattle's favorite food... you can walk there.
