We are transferring to Seattle this summer and my husband will work in the Federal Bldg. downtown Seattle. We'd like to live on the "Peninsula" I believe it is called and the information I am getting from sites like "Great Schools" and "School Digger" has recent scores but some older reviews. We will have 2 in H.S. and one in Elementary. Honors programs and great music programs (Marching Band) are very important.

We were excited about Port Orchard but have read and have actually heard from other families it has a serious over crowding issue in the High School and because of this they are struggling with other issues.

We will rent and not buy. We know there will be a commute and a time allowed for that but don't want it to be an outrageous amount of time if possible.

Bainbridge is OUT. We have already researched that.

So if any of you have any great information, especially on the East Bremerton area and Olympic High School. If you can information on Poulsbo, Kingston and the HS there, please pass that along.

Elementary schools in that area information would be very helpful.

Silverdale would be a much further commute but not off the table. We are told it would be 1.5 hours each way.

Thanks for your help, advice, etc.

Bremerton schools are not good, and the ferry is longer. Poulsbo has good schools and affordable homes, plus a cool waterfront, nice restaurants and Central Market. The drive to the Bainbridge ferry is only about 20 minutes, and in Seattle you can catch the 99 bus downtown though you may have to walk a few blocks. Don't drive on the ferry, it's expensive and you could miss the boat and have to wait for the next one. The Kingston Ferry goes to Edmonds where you could catch the train into King street station then the 99 bus, but that takes much longer and costs more. You could also drive from Kingston to Poulsbo and on to the Bainbridge ferry but that's a long way. I know nothing about the Kingston schools, sorry.
