Hello, Ive been lurking here for a while now. Ive been searching for an apartment online but still would like to ask people here for opinions.

I'll be working at the VA Medical Center in Colombian way Seattle area.

Would love to find an apartment near Seattle Downtown but, I was told the traffic would eat my drive time.

Anyone here have good apartment recommendation living in Burien or Renton?

It would just be myself.

Looking around MAX rent of $900 monthly .

Thanks.

For such a short distance downtown to the VA it would take a while, but the MT39 bus would take just about 10 minutes from the International District. Even driving both Burien and Renton would be much longer commutes. It's only about 2.5 miles from downtown, as many as 12-15 from Renton and Burien, and the traffic is bad in all directions.

There's all kinds of neighborhoods within seattle where you could get to work pretty quickly while avoiding downtown traffic. Capitol Hill, Columbia City, Mt. Baker, Madrona, North Beacon Hill. Downtown Seattle would be expensive to rent an apartment at, and Burien and Renton relatively inexpensive. They are both OK places to live, but why Burien or Renton? North beacon Hill might be a good choice. Super quick trip into downtown on the light rail line, and a quick trip to the VA. An increasingly hip neighborhood too, but still has more ethnic diversity than most neighborhoods. Not all that many neighborhoods can boast of Filipino food, good pizza, good Mexican food, and good espresso all within a few blocks of each other.
