Years ago when I visisted Seattle, I took a car ferry up to British Colombia and was allowed to enter with my driver's license. Is this still the case? I don't need my passport do I?

If you have an enhanced DL, then you should be fine. If not, bring your passport. Canada changed it back a couple years ago that require Americans to have their passports when they enter.

Yep, you now need a passport coming and going to cross the border.

.. A passport or an enhanced driver's license. A regular driver's license will not work.

Also, the enhanced license only works for water, car or foot border crossing. By air you must have a passport.
