Hi,

I am looking at moving back to Seattle after being away for 20 years. I have not visited the Seattle area yet but wanted to ask what areas should I look for with the following criteria:

1. I need a decent 2 bedroom apartment for around $700. I have a Labrador so will need to find pet friendly places.
2. I need a good elementary school for my son who is in 3rd grade
3. I just want a nice, safe area with a good community

I am not asking for a lot I don't think; I just don't know where to start as the areas are so spread out and I am sure have changed since I lived there. Can anyone point me in the right direction or am I goign to have hard time finding what I am looking for in my price range?

Thank you for any tips, comments or suggestions!

Michelle

Definitely.

My family lived in a 4-bedroom house with a front and back yard near 80th and 5th for about $900/mo in the early 90's. Seattle's real estate has become way more desirable in the meantime, and when I moved back in '08, I got a 2 bedroom about a mile away from my childhood home for $1095 that would fit all your other criteria.

Actually, you are asking for a lot. Since you were here Microsoft, Boeing, Amazon and others have added thousands of employees, and despite the bad economy, home prices have not dropped much here. Rentals continued to increase the whole time. Add to the fact that the safer neighborhoods and best schools are always more expensive, and you are going to need $1,500 for a 2 bedroom in an area where you feel safe at night, more for a really good area with good schools.
