I've never been to the Seattle metro area before, so I don't really have a good sense of how the surrounding cities are.

Are there any towns or areas near Issaquah that have homes built from 1900-1930? I've searched on real estate websites and it seems that they are few and far between. I see many in Seattle proper, but would rather live outside the city.

Yes there are a few, as you said, in Olde Town Issaquah. Most of the city has newer construction. In fact that's going generally be your challenge on the Eastside. There definitely are some, but not nearly as many as you would find in Seattle. They may also be in wonky locations as the land around them has been developed.

Look to the east of the intersection of Sunset Way and Front St.

For the most part development of the East Side didn't commence until the floating bridges were built in the 1940's and 60's. So finding houses built earlier than that is fairly hard. The towns were really small at that point in time and what housing that existed has often been redeveloped. This is pertinent especially if you want to own a historic house in a neighborhood full of other historic houses.

Most Eastside homes that old have either been moved/preserved or bulldozed for new development. The is one old farmhouse for sale in Sammamish, however, that I pass frequently. It was several acres but was sold, and much of the lot is being developed with new homes, but about half an acre is left. Busy road, though.

My aunt and uncle had a small cottage on a few acres on the lake in Issaquah that they purchased in the late 1950s. Sold it few years ago for well over $1 million dollars. After which it was bull dozed for new housing.

I'll echo what the above posters mentioned. The east side was just farming and coal mining, for the most part. Downtown Issaquah has old houses. Snoqualmire does, but it's a little far. Renton has a few cool old houses. Downtown Kirkland, though not real close to Issaquah, has some real beauties. Holmes Point near Kirkland has a bunch of big, fancy old homes built between the 1910's and 1930's. Not cheap, but if you had 1.5 million dollars to drop on a house, you could do a whole lot worse than Holmes Point. Views to die for, just a gorgeous setting.

I am looking to get back into nature. I fell in love with the area because of the Twilight movies depiction of how beautiful the area is. I was born in Michigan but lived down south for most of my life and Im sick of it. Forget moving back to Michigan it is a dump hole now. My kids are grown and have kids of their own now. I got tired of still taking care of all of them and their children too and just want to move to a tranquil area. Are their any rooms a person can rent until they are acclimated? I'm 59 and a woman Army Vet. I would appreciate any input that is positive.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this. I am of Native American Descent.

Keep in mind that as beautiful as it is here, most of those movies filmed in Portland, and other cities in Oregon, and Kalama, WA near the Oregon border.

Few and far between unless you're specifically looking for a farmhouse or perhaps an old loggers cabin. Neither of which may be inhabitable.

On the other hand, there are plenty of new builders putting up homes that are rather traditional and lacking style, if that's a possible compromise.
