My hubby & I are moving to Seattle this summer. We are really interested in living a more urban lifestyle & would like to stay away from the burbs. We have 3 children (all school-age). What areas are ideal to relocate to & what are the public schools like there??? OR, is it better to go private???

If private schools are an option, you can live just about anywhere. As a rule (with exceptions of course), better public schools are north of 520. Budget will dictate where you can live - Seattle houses can range from 300-400K to multi-millions.

For a house large enough for your family and near the best schools in Seattle would be $600,000+.
That includes upper Queen Anne, Ballard, and Magnolia. If you go private the homes might get as low as $400-500,000 but your tuition would more than make up the difference in house payment savings, and it's not tax deductible.
