So I have an interview lined up for the new Fred Meyer store and an interview with Comcast in Fife (not in Seattle area I know)...

Between the two locations and companies would one be recommended over the other? I have heard good things about Comcast but bad things about Fife and vice versa for Fred Meyer.

Maple Valley is the "affordable" suburb, very safe, treed (there is a lot of ruralness, but that's being cut down now) and excellent schools (one of the best districts in the state).

Fife is... eh. Sorry, I can't come up with something nice to say about it. Just a dirty, ghetto place with absolutely no character, trash floating everywhere, nothing going on for them. Well, actually, it's a convenient location for gas/fast food fill up on the way down to Portland. But you do have some nice areas/neighborhoods around it like Federal Way, Browns Point that are close and convenient and the schools aren't too bad.

Both are definitely car-oriented, so it would be best if you have a car to get around. Both MV and (well, Federal Way area) are very family oriented and have plenty of shopping nearby.

As for companies... it really depends on the positions you've got. They both got some thankless positions that just sucks the life out of you sometimes. But they're both good, big companies. I would assume Comcast would have better benefits than Fred Meyers would (my sister used to work for them as a cashier/dept person-- the benefits sucks for them).

Fife is more of a employment center than residential area. I may be wrong, but I believe Comcast in Fife is towards Puyallup, which is nice.

Fife by the freeway or along Pacific Avenue is what gives Fife it's scuzzy image, but it's not all that bad. The southern part of Fife, west of 70th Ave E and north of the river, is actually pretty nice. It looks like suburbs everywhere, with a bunch of newly built houses.
And in the"scuzzy" part of Fife, there are some good restaurants. Warthog BBQ. Fife City Bar and grill, Louie's Pizza. The Poodle Dog restaurant doesn't serve good food but has been there forever and is a trip.
Maple Valley doesn't have any scuzzy parts.
