I just moved to Seattle, so I'm still unfamiliar when it comes to parking places that aren't big open free lots like at a Target.
I will be attending an event at the Varsity Theatre on University Way and will be there from around 5PM-12AM.
I see some street parking, but that is only for 2 hours I believe from what I've been told?
And I see several lots nearby that I assume are in some way used by the UofW?
Where I used to live, those lots would be required to display a pass, but after a certain time, around 5PM, became free for any one to park in.
So I was just wondering if someone could point me towards a parking lot near by I could park in.
It doesn't have to be free, I'd pay if you have to. I just don't want to park in a way that will get me a ticket.
Thank you.

I think it depends on the day of the week, but last time I was at that theatre, I paid for that lot across the street and it was like $2 for all night parking that expired at 6 am. But it may not always be that way. I live about 2 blocks away and our whole neighborhood is by permit parking, so you may just be safest paying for that lot across from the theatre.

I should have mentioned a Tuesday, sorry.
I see lots in every direction. Are you referring to the one east behind the bookstore?
Or the few that are North?
Thanks for the help.

There's usually on street parking a couple of blocks to the West.

How does street parking work? Is it free after a certain time? I hear they're super strict and when you pay, it's a 2 hour limit...

The street parking is free in the U District after 8 PM. Most of the lots around there belong to the UDPA. You'd pay the hourly rate until 6PM and then it's a flat 2-3 dollars for up to overnight:

Thanks for the map. Any idea what to expect on a Tuesday around 5PM? Lots of availability? Hard to find a spot...
Thanks.
