Yes, as mentioned above this has been an unfortunate trend in the past two decades. B.C. made it clear that they welcomed the film industry, WA did not. The films shot in WA, were shot there because the producer and/or director demanded it. Those days seem long gone. Today, the best WA will get is some scenery shots, either location, or stock, then everything moves north. I know Chicago has seen the same thing with Toronto. To me, this decreases the quality of the film, as the reality becomes less important. Some would argue that most movie-goers/watchers don't care. That's too bad.

You're right and if you didn't know, the opening in Double Jeopardy looked like it was off Whidbey. You wouldn't know otherwise and that works because they are so close geographically.

Every once in a while I'll see something being introduced as an incentive for filming locally but I don't follow it closely enough to know how it turns out.

Black Widow. Part of the movie takes place in Seattle, and there is even a scene on a Washington state ferry.

Mad Love with Drew Barrymore and Chris O'Donnel. My friends and I just loved that movie when it came out... of course we were kids *SMH*.

Saw Expiration Date at SIFF a few years ago. Really liked this quirky independent effort, and there were Seattle-area sets galore.

Yes, some movies are still being shot in Seattle even in this anti-filmmaking environment. However, many are lower budget films. The days of major motion pictures filmed in Seattle are over. The State doesn't deem it as important, so be it.

Governor signs into law a tax-incentive program to attract movie production to Washington state - KCPQ Their actions says otherwise... perhaps they need to give better incentives?

Well, that is a good step, but I wonder if it is enough.

I look at this as just a step, nothing more. There is a big difference between offering some incentives, and welcoming film production. Here is the deal: Washington has so many locations that would and could be great for major motion pictures. Why the State doesn't do all it can to make it a no-brainer is beyond me. The pay-off is huge, not only in on-site production revenue, but the image of the area to the rest of the world. I don't understand why this isn't clear to our state representatives and leaders.

Both of those were mostly filmed in Tacoma.

10 Things at Stadium High School obviously, and the house in Hand was in the Stadium District up on north Yakima.

RE: The Hand That Rocks The Cradle...true the house was shot in Tacoma. However, there was significant shooting in Seattle, in dowtown, Queen Anne, and Magnolia, where Dr. Motts & his wife's house was.
