Best way to look for jobs at Amazon is to look at their Careers Page. Then if you know someone that works at Amazon, they can submit a resume for a specific position a person is interested in, but you can't just submit a person's resume and say, "Well, if we have anything that matches his skills." You have to submit them for a specific open position.

Ditto on that...and if you get an interview make sure you have studied the Core Values of Amazon on their website because you will need to know them.

They are hiring in Accounting but most of the jobs require experience right now. My husband was just at a recruiting event at UW last night...MBA program.

Default Amazon offer?

My husband interviewed at Amazon last Wednesday. It was his 3rd interview done on-site, and he was confident that he did well. He knows the hiring manager (who did not participate in the interviews, but did recommend him for the position, as they've worked together before). I'm sitting on pins and needles wondering about this. Can anyone can give me an idea about the turnaround time from 3rd interview to offer presentation at Amazon?

Also, has anyone here relocated for Amazon? Were you glad you did?

Thanks for the input!

Amazon typically does not move incredibly fast on their decisions. That being said, they are *excellent* at providing updates and feedback as the process progresses, so you aren't left sitting by the phone wondering what's going on. They run a pretty tight ship there in terms of that.

I know when I decided to relocate back to the area, I did an interview for a Senior position in their IT department....2 interviews in the span of 3 days. And while they were good on the updates, by the time they extended me a formal offer, I had already taken something else, moved to the area, and had been working for almost 3 weeks - and that's IT, where companies tend to move more quickly because we're still high-demand and courted by many companies at once.

When my husband interviewed at Amazon, they called him 1 or 2 days after his onsite interview to offer him the job. We relocated with Amazon, and it was an amazing experience. If you have any specific questions, please DM me.

Our experience was the same as VeronikaW's - we had an offer within a day or two of him having flown to Seattle from Austin TX. He started exactly one month from the day he accepted. Thankfully we also sold our house in a day for asking price...had we waited even a few weeks to put it on the market, it might be a different story. We have had a great experience coming to Seattle! We love the area overall - even the weather is doable. The outdoor life here is unbeatable in terms of beauty and proximity IMO.

Though his life is not always perfect at Amazon (no where is!), my husband has really enjoyed it overall, works with super smart people and is NEVER bored. He would make the same decision again career-wise and being the spouse and kids along for the ride, we'd all come again if presented with the decision knowing what we know. I would say honestly that his phone never stops ringing with recruiters from some pretty big name companies wanting to talk to him - simply because of his Amazon experience no doubt.

It's single-guy/dating-guy syndrome.

When you're single, no girl wants to talk to you. When you get a girlfriend, all of a sudden you're being asked for, um, "sleepovers" every other day. Same thing with a job unemployed vs. employed. It's also a Seattle thing. The market here is stronger, so recruiters look to poach talent from this area because it's got so much quality. It's a lot easier to mine for talent here than it is to try and pick through talent in Kansas City or what not.

I don't know what industry he's in, but at the company I'm presently with (another of Seattle's large blue-blood companies) our IT department has a weekly contest with whoever gets the most recruiting "hits" at the end of each week gets treated to dinner on our Friday get-togethers. And apparently if anyone takes an offer, they have to buy everyone dinner. Fair is fair, I guess :P.

The guy who won last week had 16 for the week.

Yeah, they were quick with us, too, we moved 2 weeks after the offer was made (luckily we didn't have a house to worry about selling).

My husband really loves working for Amazon. He says the bureaucracy takes a while to get used to if you've only worked for smaller companies, but he really loves it. When he first started there he thought he might only work there 4 or 5 years, but now he says he can see himself never leaving.

I've never heard back on any of my Amazon applications. 27 here, with Bachelors degree, rotting away in my fifth year in a call center filled with GED level employees...

Its holiday season, so anyways things move slowly. Typically after the interview, the interviewers meet for a debrief. This can be next day or next week based on how badly we want the candidate and/or the time when all interviewers have half an hour free on their calender

But don't worry too much, you can always mail the recruiter but in your case since the hiring manager is the one who recommended your hubby, just ask him/her. Though he can't see the feedback, he can push the recruiter to hurry up with the debrief and the final decision

As for the company, I echo the same sentiments, a lot of smart people working on a lot of cool things. Though expect long hours (Not initially!), its an Amazon thing where people work really hard. With work during the day and meetings at night

Best of luck, hope ur hubby gets the offer and join us Amazonians
