I, personally, find Mamas to be pretty pedestrian - typical gringo cheese-laden, sour cream covered fare. I love their decorations and cheap margaritas though.

It is indeed La Tarasca in Centralia. Great food and inexpensive.

Yes, I was referring to La Tarasca also! Good point Ira500 about Deckard and my taste in good Mexican food obviously being different. I think Colorado has great Mexican food! Again, thanks everyone for the suggestions!

My measure of an authentic Mexican restaurant is if you order horchata to drink and they actually have it, along with jamaica y tamarindo. That tells me that real Mexicans eat there.

Former Texan here. Also lived in Colorado and I am not sure what Mexican restaurants you liked there. We used to eat at Blue Bonnet, Moosehill Cantina and Tosh's Hacienda. Pretty good by CO standards but compared to TX, just okay.

In the Seattle area, we like:

1) Ooba Tooba's (Redmond)
2) La Venadita Tacqueria (Issaquah)
3) Pesos (Queen Anne)

Others that we think are are pretty good are Cactus and Agave. We have heard about Mamas but never been. Also La Carta de Oaxaca in Ballard is raved about.

But the BEST as previously mentioned is in Centralia. La Tarasca. AMAZING food.

Again, thanks to all who responded. I have eaten at Mama's and thought it was okay but not great (although my spouse loved the enchildadas). I thought La Carta de Oaxaca was interesting but not the kind of Mexican food I enjoy or am used to. I will definitely try out these other suggestions.
