Some of you might remember me from an earlier thread in which I mentioned I was relocating to the Seattle-Tacoma area from South Carolina. Well, one thing we eat down in the South is BOILED PEANUTS, also known as "country caviar." Anyway, we can buy fresh green peanuts at the farmers markets here and then boil them.

PLEASE tell me you can buy boiled peanuts in the Seattle area. I'm not talking about the nasty stuff that you buy in cans. I'm talking about real, raw green peanuts that are meant to be boiled? Can you buy them at farmer's markets or at roadside stands in the Seattle area? If they are for sale, where are they?

I don't think you can get boiled peanuts here. The farmer's markets tend to sell what grows locally, and peanuts don't grow around here. Still, you can get raw peanuts at PCC, Whole Foods, and by mail at peanutguy.com, who comes out of South Carolina, and boil them yourself.

I'm from Georgia myself, and love boiled peanuts. Sadly, you can't buy any here that are already prepared; you have to boil 'em up yourself. Best place to get green peanuts for boiling is at Uwajimaya, an Asian specialty market in the International District. Good luck!
