Nothing like unabashedly fun things to bring out this city's NIMBYs. I hear the town in Footloose is taking new residents.

I saw it the other day and thought oh great, the county fair must be in town. Is it operated by carnies? I hope this is a temporary thing.

Sounds fun to me. The Waterfront has been needing a new attraction for years now. I'm looking forward to the views from there.

A top secret "gorilla restaurant" that changes locations every weekend. You have to be in the know to get on the mailing list for reservations. The only serve organic and locally grown ingredients, combined together by a guest "Culinary Artist" each week.

Someone should open a restaurant called "Pike's Market" or "Pike's Place." My god they would get a lot of google hits and misdirected tourists.

Awesome. My little one's been wanting to go on a ferris wheel and this would be great!

Now I'm praying for an earthquake to take the thing down. What a mess. The 'it's going to be a lot of fun to ride' crowd don't realize how this is going to spoil things for just as many other people. Seriously, put this hunk of crap in a carnival or fairground where it belongs. On the waterfront is sickening.
Ok, Shrike, I'll bite.... What people lost their view? And don't say the pedestrians .

As for the earthquake comment... that's just sad. If there's an earthquake strong enough to take the thing down, you do realize that the seawall won't be able to stand right? That whole area is going down and that indeed would be bad news for Seattle.

I think it looks great! I've been watching it being built since I moved here in April. Last weekend, they were testing it out and I saw it rotate (slowly and intermittent) for the first time.

Pike's used to be a bar on Capitol Hill. Now closed. They were referring to Pike Place Market.
