Hello we are a family of 4. 2 special needs children ages 11 and 7 and 1 special needs adult. Because of one genetic condition the children have (they have 2 and are the only kids in the world) we are having to move to a cooler climate. Currently we live near Palm Springs Ca. It is literally killing the kids. I have looked into various areas and financial demands of those areas. What do you think about the High Point community in West Seattle? I realize it's primarily for lower income people and that is what we are at this moment. Schools in the area are Pathfinder k-8 and West Seattle Elementary. I have heard that the PTA has a special group for parents of children in special ed. Does anyone know anything about them? Are there any churches out there that have a Special Needs Ministry? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. We are hoping that I will be able to get a job before we need to move in October but only time will tell. Thank you.

Lightbulb Special Needs Family

Hi! I know you posted a while ago, but I figured I would pass on the info just in case you hadn't found anything yet.

There are two faith based organisations that have a particular focus on special needs (although I am sure there are more).

The ones I know of are on the east side.

Bridge Disability Ministries - nonprofit Christian org in WA

also this place for teens: Welcome

Get in touch with Parent to Parent through The Arc of King County to find out about more local resources from other parents. There are school district specific groups- so you could get that specific info you were after. Best of luck!
