I took a job at Boeing in Everett and i'll be coming from the east coast in Savannah, Georgia. I'm expected to arrive in Seattle in early august but will only have 30 days to find a place. Are there any boeing employees here that has any suggestions on what would be a good area to live. I'm a single male in late 20's. Trying to keep things interesting without breaking the bank on my living expenses. I'm starting a Boeing as a Technical Designer II. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Kev

If I were a young single male in my 20's just starting out - I'd live in Fremont/Ballard/Wallingford. Lots of fun stuff to do with easy access to the city. Yes, there's a commute to Everett ... it's not too bad in the morning - you can probably do speed limit most of the way. Coming home, it'll probably start bogging down around Northgate. From there, you can just slog along until your exit (50th) or get off and take surface streets. Some may say live in Everett and be close - but, there's no guarantee Boeing will keep you in Everett - and if you were transferred you'd have a hellish commute. My suggestion to Boeing people is live central to Everett/Kent/Bellevue/Renton/Plant II - you never know where you might end up.

I chose Woodinville, which is half way between Everett and Boeing field. I spent most of my time in Everett the first year, now mostly at the DC (Boeing Field). That could change, so I stay in the middle.
