SEATTLE - When 86-year-old Edith Macefield refused a $1 million offer to move from her Seattle home, a developer started building a five-story project around it.

Macefield said that she doesn't need the money and that she doesn't want to move from her home, where she has lived since 1966. A concrete wall looms within feet of her kitchen window as the project rises.

Heaven forbid that an 86 yo woman who has what, a few years left to live, would want to die in the same home that she lived her life in and raised her family.

Too bad that even though she didn't sell, the construction will ruin her home and what little time she has remaining in this world.

C'mon man, 86 years...Sounds to me like she has had a good run, I think it's time for her to pack it in.

She'll pass on soon enough. But, until then, she'll be in her house, on her land, that was paid for through her family's toil. She's part of a generation that found meaning in that. Her house isn't just a place to live. It represents a lot more than that to her.

I say to that generation: Get with the times. Everybody is on the same page except for you.

Yeah damn those developers that are densifying an established population center. Why can't they just **** off to the exurbs? I mean, look at all that unused land just ripe for logging. There aren't any 90 year old grannies to **** off out there. Will the greed ever end?

edit - I didn't know the word "Pi$$" was considered a curse word.
