Currently, what are the best eateries on Mercer Island? --especially for lunch?

Stopsky's is really good. They bake their own bread, make their own pastrami and pickles. Pon Proem is good Thai food. The Roanoke Inn may not have the best food, but it's not bad and it's always fun to go there..It's been there forever(1920's?), and when a neighbor tried to get them closed down because zoning changed and they don't have a parking lot, all kinds of regular customers intervened on their behalf, most of whom also were neighbors. These regular customers just happened to be attorneys, well known businessmen, etc, and they donated legal services to keep the place open. The food's pretty good. The atmosphere is awesome, but I'm a sucker for old buildings.
I haven't tried Bennett's Pure Food Bistro, but I've heard good things.

I forgot all about Alpenland. I think they're still around. Stopsky's does have bagels, lox, and cream cheese. They bake their own bagels. I went when they first opened, and service was horrible. But I've been back a couple of times and service was good. They are the place next to the bookstore.

Ahhhh, they make their own bagels? Where I live, nearest bagels are 1.5 hours away--for funky Safeway bagels or Lender's frozen.

Good reminder about the Roanoke -- fun to go there during the summer months for dining "al fresco". Glad Alpenland is still there--don't like the tight space for tables but food was always good.

Blazing Bagels in Redmond and at Safeco Field in Seattle are really good.

Is the Roanoke Inn still open? It's been a couple of years but they had good food and great beer selection.
It was 21 and over, though.
