There are some cute houses over there, pretty affordable, nice views, "decent" Seattle schools. What is the traffic going to be like, though, with all that construction going on? Is it a total mess if I need to commute to pill hill?

You must be referring to the viaduct.

I work DT near Pill Hill...see my post here Commute from West Seattle to Downtown??

West Seattle is cool...don't let the traffic scare you off. It can be done.

It will be a mess until about 2016, but depending on your work hours it may be worth it to live in West Seattle.

It will be a mess for a while, but only going downtown, and mostly during the commute hours. And there are other ways of getting there other than the West Seattle Bridge. So, it will be worse than it is now, but it'll still be a manageable commute (if you do it at the right time, aren't going downtown, or sneak in via the south, 1st Ave S. Bridge.
