Hello group

Wife & I are planing to buy a house in or around Seattle area. I would appreciate if you could give me some suggestions on good neighborhoods I can focus on.

Background
- Wife works downtown Seattle.
- My work place may be in Seattle downtown or Bellevue/Redmond.
- No kids. Just the 2 of us in very late 30s. Goddamn where did the years go!!!

Criteria to buy
- Must be within 12-15 miles radius from downtown.
- Budget around 600k
- School is not a criteria.
- Must be a safe neighborhood.
- prefer a middle class/middle age neighborhood.
- prefer close to water front.
- prefer an area that does not get flooded during heavy rain.
- prefer some nice restaurants and theaters around.
- prefer a swimming pool
- Minimum 2500 sqft
-
Any tip is much appreciated

cheers
rsk

You might check out Edmonds.

Swimming pool? Indoor?

Swimming pool, as in backyard? Not going to happen.

Not sure what kind of theatres you're talking about (stage vs movie), but maybe look into Kirkland, Capitol Hill (Seattle), Ravenna (Seattle), West Seattle, Wallingford (Seattle) and Bellevue.

Thanks for the responses guys. Ok, lets forget the pool. I prefer to be in Seattle, unless i cant find anyting that fits my criteria. In that case I dont mind looking at the suburbs.

Kirkland is a great area and would fit most of your desired criteria. It's a little more than a 10 mile commute into downtown Seattle and probably another 10 miles into Redmond. Close to waterftont and your budget could go a long way.

If you're wanting to be closer to Seattle, I would suggest the Queen Anne neighborhood. Demographics are in line with what you're looking for, safe, and close to South Lake Union.

In general you'll find Republicans on the east side of Lake Wa, and Democrats on the west, if that helps any. Stay away from south of downtown.

I live in Seward Park area and quite a few homes have swimming pools. Might be worth checking out - easy downtown commute via bus. Close to Columbia City with lots of restaurants and clubs. Close to Lake Washington.

This is pretty outdated info. Bellevue, for instance, voted for Obama, Kerry and, I believe, Gore.

When you say yo may be working in DT Seattle or Bellevue/Redmond, is this something that will be determined at a later date, or are you going to be working in both locations? If you find out that you'll be working only in DT Seattle, there are some really awesome parts of West Seattle, with great waterfront views.

Please substantiate.

Most I talk to on the east side are Republicans.
