Hello,
I am entertaining a position in Federal Way. We have 3 young kids (6,2, and1). Best possible schools are a must, of course. We really want to go public as we are private now and its a HUGE expense and leaves little for the college savings!
I have been reading that the Tacoma SD is pretty good down that way. Is there a particular place/area that is nice to live(great neighborhood feel, SAFE, lots of kids)? Would like to get a place as inexpensive as possible, would prob rent home to start but home budget for purchase would be up to 400K.
Thanks!

TD

Uhm... No... Tacoma SD is not "pretty good"-- in fact a lot of people here will implore you not to put your child in that SD, LOL.

You've obviously misread... Tahoma SD is the best SD down there, definitely in the top 10 SD of the state. Tahoma SD serves Maple Valley (and a small sliver of Renton)-- and that's where you'll definitely want to check out. Affordable: You can find something with your budget. Close to nature and shopping. Great access to Hwy 18 which will lead you straight to FW. Very safe, very family friendly, very suburb-y.

Another place you might REALLY like is Lake Tapps, great school system, see this link: Lake Tapps Elementary School - Lake Tapps, Washington - WA - School overview. Your $400K would get you something nice and it is quite pretty there.
