It has to been in your own home in private. Finally, they will have DUI laws that will get many people.

Colorado also past the law, go there and live if it is for that purpose
Why are you whining man?? I was giving Seattle props not putting the place down.

Eh, I am a liberal person and I support I-502. My only hope was, was that people wouldn't come here just for that. I was hoping Oregon would also pass a law (and I am hopeful for California). People should NOT be coming here just to buy a bunch of weed then either:

A)Be smoking it in public where it can get in the lungs of non-smokers (if you take infused items, no problem there)
B)Take it to your home state and start distributing it there.

But, we will see what happens over the next year.

CA's law is different in that you need to get a doctor's prescription. Sure, it's not necessarily very difficult to do but it's still different from walking into a corner shop and just buying some pot.

I have been to Amsterdam and actually I think it will be sort of similar. Most people don't realize this but pot is illegal in Amsterdam. It is just that the government and police choose to tolerate it. Other drugs are highly illegal and even buying pot on the street is highly illegal.

Here, if the federal government chooses to tolerate it, there will be small shops where people can go to buy pot, smoke it there (probably) or take it home and smoke it. It will not be ok to smoke in most public areas. In Amsterdam, the police won't bother you if you smoke off in the corner of a park where there are no children or people but you aren't supposed to walk around crowded areas smoking pot, etc.

We already have medical marijuana with the doctor prescription (since 1998)... but the new law would definitely make it easier for access and give those patients more options. So good for WA to allow this. I still can't really imagine have the small shops though.

Washington State needs people coming here "to get high as a kite" about as much as a fish needs a bicycle.

While I am a supporter of medical marijuana, I know that the system gets abused by folks like the OP. We just went through this in MT... tons of little shops in strip malls popped up. You could buy all sorts of pot and all different manners of paraphanalia to go along with it. All you needed was a "green card", which any person over the age of 18 could get by going to the local walk in clinic and say they have migraines or leg pain or sleeplessness... many, many of the high school seniors had green cards at our local school.

What I worry about for WA (my home state), is folks like the OP heading there in droves with the thought that they can spend their days smoking and getting high. Like it's just one big non-stop party. That type of thinking is NOT what medical marijuana is supposed to be for.

Just what I was saying on the first page. Do NOT want a bunch of pot heads relocating here simply because this is legalized.

Seattle made it a low enforcement priority years ago. While it's certainly made people a little more free about smoking it in public places, it doesn't seem like the city became any more of a pothead mecca than it was before the law change.
