I would think having a filter on your tap at home would be preferable (and healthier) to getting water from machines used by hundreds of other people.

Seattle has great water- Bellevue's smells like chlorine at times.
I do use a filter because we have old pipes, but Seattle has some of the best water in the country. Bottled water is less regulated. You do know what Evian spelled backwards is, don't you?

The tap here is the best you're going to get anywhere, and it's free. It's a little silly to fear tap anywhere in this country.

Tap water is free? What's this water bill I've been paying this whole time?

... c'mon, the OP has made it clear that he/she prefers dispensed purified water. I made the mistake of suggesting that since I grew up drinking water straight from the tap in Seattle with no apparent drastic negative results (I suppose I could blame a lot of my shortcomings on drinking Seattle tap water as a child but I'm not), that the OP might consider drinking tap water. It wasn't his/her inquiry on whether or not to drink tap water. The question was where to buy purified water locally. *hah!*

A good alternative is to buy water softening machines that take the tap water and filters it through a variety of means; some blast it with UV light, many dramatically reduce the amount of flouride and other chemicals in the water, and so on. You can also buy other filters that fit on the spout.

Agree that the water vending machines are disease ridden and shouldn't really be used.

It's the Fluoride that's the big problem with city water these days. (Seattle too)

Do your research.

I'm sorry but I'm laughing now because while reading everyone's posts I was hearing a slow "Be like us" drum beat in the background. I don't know if you guys notice it but the whole "this is what we do in Seattle" shtick is kind of creepy when literally all of you say it. Horror movie stuff right there.

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
