Greetings,

We are looking for recommendations for a summer camp for our 4.5 year old son. We will be living in Seward Park. We are hoping to find a camp which will offer lots of outdoor activities. Any of the private schools in the area have summer camps? We will probably have to remain south of the canal to keep our lives sane. Thanks.

Check you local community centers. They have day camps for all ages. Maybe the YMCA/YWCA in your neighborhood. The Science Center runs great camps during the summers. You can also look at ArenaSports, either the Magnuson Park location or the location south of downtown.

Wilderness Awareness has a camp program for younger kids at Seward Park. I have no first-hand experience with it, we are trying it this summer for the first time as it was highly recommended to us by our realtor who has two boys.

I was going to recommend the camp I went to as a kid, but then I saw how young your son is. But since others may find this thread and be looking for overnight summer camps, I want to recommend Camp Sealth on Vashon Island: Camp Sealth

I'm pretty sure the Audobon/Environmental Center within Seward Park has a summer camp. I walk there frequently and see kids in there all the time who look happy.

Ira beat me to it ... Seward Park is a great facility. Might also check the Rainier Community Center by the post office for their programs. When my kids were younger, they had free soccer camps at the Genessee Park soccer fields.
