Doing some research on retirement homes for someone. Can anyone comment on retirement homes on the eastside (Kirkland, Redmond, etc. maybe even Renton, Bothell, Woodinville)? Average cost? What to expect? I've seen a few websites, but none of them have listed actual numbers so far.

Comments appreciated.

I have served many clients in the Providence Point community. Wide variety of housing options. Very active (tons of people out walking, playing tennis, etc.) Lovely grounds.

My father lives at The Lakeshore retirement community, a couple of blocks north of Renton. The Lakeshore is part of the ERA Living group, and they have retirement communities in downtown Bellevue, and in Issaquah. They're all nice, have a lot of stuff to do, and have good food. My father pays something like 2600 for a one bedroom apartment and it includes food and transportation and entertainment. They go on a lot of trips, and there are lots of regular in house activities. ERA also has a Continuing Care community on Mercer Island, where you have to pay a bunch of money to get in. The Bellevue and Issaquah communities are a few hundred more.
One of their competitors is Merrill Gardens. They tend to be slightly more expensive, and only provide one meal. All of them would love for you to come visit and get a free lunch. The decision where my father ended up living was jointly decided between him, my sister, and myself. And my sister can never decide on anything, so we ended up visiting a bunch of retirement communities and gettting a bunch of free lunches. The ERA community in Issaquah was pretty spectacular. But the community in Renton is right on the lake and close to home for me, and a little closer for my sister.
