Taking a part time temp job that pays **** and it might be best just to sleep in my damn car for the duration of it. Is there anywhere that would be a safe place to do this?

I would avoid south of downtown, and avoid downtown. Maybe you can sleep in a residential area, but not the same spot each night. Actually, I'm not sure it would be unsafe anywhere, as I've never tried it.

I actually did this one night in West Seattle along the water on Alki Ave SE. For that one night it was fine. Otherwise, I would recommend north of Lake Union / Ship Canal, but not too near Aurora.

Yes but there are far too many people car camping there as is. So much that it's become a nuisance.

Post an item on Craiglist and try to find 2+ roommates. Maybe you can get a rent somewhere around $500-600 a month. It wouldnt be the nicest apartment in the nicest city, but its better than sleeping in your car, right?

When I was in college I did this (because I supported myself and made minimum wage, but needed somewhere to stay), I ended up with 2 roomates. One was a lesbian and one was another guy who was pretty quiet.

Not to be homophobic or anything, but it all worked out great as both myself and the other guy had a girlfriend (and so did our roommate) and there was no sexual tension between us, but there was a balance of cleanliness and compromise.

That was in STL, so we found a place that we could get for $350 each a month.

Just an idea. When my lease runs up, Im thinking about either living in Seattle with no car or in Kent, Auburn, Renton, etc. with a car. I currently split a $1,400 room with my girlfriend and we can get something close to $1000 and it would work just as well there. Its not like those areas are East St.Louis, Camden, N.J. or something haha

I would think about over-nighting in a Wal-Mart parking lot, but not the same one everynight.

I can't understand why is it illegal to sleep in your OWN car? You don't disturb anyone if you do it.

It isn't. In fact certain areas have large #'s of RV's and vans parked on the street that serve as semi permanent residences. The reason people don't like it is because of the trash and feces left laying around, and that many of these itinerant residents aren't otherwise living legally.
