He will be on his motorcycle, so the closer the better. Know he has to get over the mountains, but then where? He wasn't impressed with Yakima when he rose through. Maybe he just didn't give it enough time? He likes to camp, hike. Any suggestions? Thanks!! He doesn't want to sit in a hotel room all weekend and is quite an introvert.

I would have suggested Tri-Cities for the Wine Tour, but he's on a motorcycle. If he's interested in checking old looking towns, check out Waitsburg. Or Walla Walla. Those 2 towns are packed with charms. You can google the hiking trails near those towns.

Much of the state has rain in the forecast, but the Tri-cities expect sun and 70s, as does the Columbia River Gorge and Moses Lake.

I neglected to mention that he's in Renton. Oops :-)

Thanks for the suggestions! I know google is a great resource, but I guess I was hoping for more specific, first-hand recommendations. Have any of you spent much time at any of the camp grounds around the Tri-city area?

My BIL lives in Kennewick, so we tend to stay with him. I do remember he took us to Columbia Park (which is beautiful) and mentioned that it's a popular area to camp out. That's pretty much all I can give. Sorry!

Charbonneau Park is the only one I have been to, there are more of the private resort type RV parks than real campgrounds but there are some.

He's going on his motorcycle but wants a short trip? That's a shame - there are some great roads to ride over there. 10 between Cle Elum and Ellensburg, the Yakima Canyon Road, US 12, Satus Pass, US 2 - lots of great country to explore.
